This is the first release of my Sinclair ZX Spectrum emulator for the Power Macintosh.
Hardware requirements:
• a Power Macintosh
• a screen capable of showing at least 256x192 pixels at 256 colours/greys.
Features:
• emulates all known undocumented Z80 opcodes
• runs at true Spectrum speed with perfect sound
• real time tape I/O
• displays the Spectrum screen with up to 4x magnification
• completely configurable keyboard with Kempston joystick support
• reads and writes .SNA-format snapshot files
• supports Macintosh Drag and Drop
You can find snapshot files by anonymous FTP to the Spectrum archives at ftp.nvg.unit.no. For more information, try the newsgroup comp.sys.sinclair.
A small utility program for correcting the file types of downloaded files is included in this package. Future releases will include a Macintosh port of the snapshot format converter SPCONV.
Power Spectrum is causeware. You can try it out for a week with no obligations, but if you decide to keep it you must either support the cause (see below) or pay me a small fee.
To support the cause, write a postcard to Apple and demand that they change their policy on look-and-feel issues. Use this address:
Apple Computer, Inc.
1 Infinite Loop
Cupertino, CA 95014
U.S.A.
The fee is SEK 100 (at the time of writing, approximately GBP 9 or USD 13).
If you're in Sweden, the easiest way to pay is by postal giro (see below for my account number). The Swedish postal giro is reachable from some other European countries as well; ask at your post office.
Checks are OK if they are issued in SEK and drawn on a Swedish bank.
Sending cash in the mail is frowned upon in most places. However, a few notes (or bills, depending on your dialect) inside a folded piece of paper inside an envelope are not likely to be noticed. Swedish currency is preferred but not required.
